Wellness Journey Update: My At-Home Fitness Routine That Works

Hey lovelies šŸ’• If you’ve been following along, you know I’m deep into my wellness journey—not just the supplements and better food choices, but the whole move-my-body-so-I-don’t-feel-like-a-mashed-potato part too. šŸ™ƒ

Let’s be real for a sec: getting movement in as a busy, exhausted, real-life mom is… a full-on challenge. I’m not waking up at 5 a.m. for bootcamp (I can barely wake up at 6:45 without a child climbing on me). But I am finding ways to move my body that fit into my life, and dare I say… are actually kind of fun?

My Secret Weapon: Supernatural on Meta Quest 3

Y’all. This is not your average workout app.

I strap on my Meta Quest 3 headset, load up Supernatural, and suddenly I’m no longer in my bedroom with unfolded laundry taunting me—I’m in Iceland or the top of a freaking mountain boxing to Lizzo. It’s like cardio meets music therapy meets vacation, and it actually makes me sweat. Like, dripping sweat.

Even better? They’ve got stretch sessions that feel like I’m getting my whole spine realigned by a yoga fairy. It’s shockingly relaxing and a huge help for my tight neck and shoulders (hi, mom posture). Here’s a link to a less expensive VR model, also from Meta.

I Also Ski. Kind Of. In My Bedroom.

Okay, so I’m not exactly skiing down Aspen slopes while the wind kisses my cheeks—but I do have an AeroSki in my bedroom, and yes, it looks like a jungle gym. I get on it 2x a week for about 20 minutes, and it works my arms, core, legs, and balance. Bonus: my kids think it’s hilarious and try to ride it like a toy. (that’s dangerous for toddlers – just say no.)

It’s low-impact, surprisingly effective, and perfect for those ā€œI can’t even leave the house todayā€ moments. Which, let’s face it, is most days. This wellness journey can be hard!

Eeking Up My Step Goal (One Messy Errand at a Time)

Confession: before this journey, I was barely hitting 4,000 steps a day. And most of those were pacing around the kitchen looking for snacks I told my kids we didn’t have.

Now? I’m slowly working my way up. My current daily goal is 6,000 steps, and some days I hit it, some days I don’t—but I try. That alone is a win.

I walk laps around the house. I dance while doing dishes (when no one is looking because I dance like Elaine). I take the long way from the car to the store. It’s not glamorous, but it’s wellness journey progress.

Real Talk: Movement Is Self-Care

I used to think I needed a gym membership, matching leggings, and an hour of free time (ha!) to start getting fit. Nope.

Turns out I just needed:

āœ… A VR headset
āœ… An AeroSki in my bedroom
āœ… A goal that’s realistic (and doesn’t require me to become a fitness influencer overnight)

This is what movement looks like for me, right now, as a tired, working, mama-on-a-mission. And that’s okay. It counts.

If you’re on your own wellness journey—whether you’re walking in Target for your steps or doing squats while folding laundry—you’re doing great. šŸ’Ŗ
